In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Phu Doanh, Vice Rector of the University, emphasized the important role of books in the development of knowledge and highlighted the significance of fostering and promoting a reading culture within the university community. He encouraged lecturers, staff members, and students to maintain regular reading habits as a foundation for lifelong learning and sustainable intellectual development.

At the ceremony, Dr. Do Xuan Dan, Vice President of the Northern Academic Libraries Alliance (NALA), highly appreciated the University’s commitment to library development and acknowledged its efforts in enhancing library facilities and information resources, thereby improving support for teaching, learning, and research activities. He also spoke positively about the organization of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day at the University in recent years, noting that the activities have become increasingly well-planned, diverse, and influential in promoting reading culture within the academic community.

As part of the program, Meritorious Teacher, Associate Professor Architect Dang Thai Hoang, former lecturer of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, shared his research experiences and donated valuable publications to the Library.

In addition to the formal ceremony, a variety of professional and interactive activities were organized, including:

• Launch of the “You and K40” bookcase donated by alumni
• Reception of book donations from alumni and partner organizations
• Introduction of the book Lifelong Learning by Peter Hollins
• Appreciation ceremony for the HUCE Book and Action Club
• Awards for active users of the Library’s databases and digital resources
• Presentation of awards for the “I LOVE HUCE” Photo Contest
• Ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new bookcase in the Open Reading Room (3rd Floor – Library)

The series of activities not only highlighted Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 but also contributed to promoting reading habits and raising awareness of the importance of knowledge within the academic community.

Through this event, the Library of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering once again reaffirmed its role as a vital learning resource center, supporting the University’s teaching and research missions while contributing to the development of a modern, learner-friendly, and sustainable educational environment.
